League of Extraordinary Gamers

09 September, 2010

Commencing with a group of 30 enthusiastic residents interested in family-friendly social get-togethers, LXG has grown to over 100 members.

Board, card and miniature war games[b/] are played every month at the Cavendish Rd State High School assembly hall with a dedicated three day winter retreat[b/] each year for dedicated gamers. LXG also provide a library for members to borrow from between meetings.

The group is also dedicated to assisting Multiple Sclerosis Society of Qld by volounteering to run games nights. LXG recognise the ability of gameplay to assist with the development of social, literacy and numeracy skills, particularly in younger people.

I recently had the pleasure of helping the group with a funding application to Brisbane City Council and am happy to advise the group was successful. The grant will be of tremendous assistance to LGX.
