Extended Bus Service on the 181 Route Corridor

13 November, 2008

Full buses on the 181 route are never welcome if you are running late for work or wanting to get home. Lord Mayor Campbell Newman understands this and is providing record funding for greater public access to public transport.

During the last election I listened to residents regarding the 181 service from Garden City along Cavendish Rd to the city. I have pushed to improve this service since I was elected and now there has been some action.

Brisbane City Council and TransLink have reviewed the 181 route and have measured the increased residential growth along this bus corridor. Two additional services on this route in the morning and afternoon peak times will be introduced in October, 2008.

TransLink has also given me an undertaking that they will conduct a further review of services early in 2009 with a view to continuing to improve the current timetable and running times.

Other service improvements have also recently been approved on the 180 route which also services this corridor. Additional buses provide more convenience and reduce traffic congestion.
