Solar Lighting along Bikeway/Walkway

10 June, 2011

Brisbane City Council is currently trialing new components for the Solar Lighting situated in various parks within the ward. A fault within the Solar Systems was compounded by flooding prior to the January floods as the units are at the base of the poles and were consequently submerged.

The trial should be completed early July and consultation with Council's Active Travel will follow resulting in a decision on whether to roll out the upgrades to all ineffective solar lighting systems soon after.

Unfortunately the issue does not have a quick fix due to the number of components involved and the process required prior to a final decision.

I understand your concerns and appreciate your patience in this matter as Council officers endeavour to implement an appropriate solution.
