Lord Mayor Graham Quirk is taking action to slow down speeding motorists with portable flashing speed warning signs to be positioned at dangerous blackspots around Brisbane.

The Lord Mayor announced the installation of electronic signs that warn drivers of how fast they are travelling by flashing up their speed in all Brisbane City Council wards.

Cr Quirk said the portable flashing speed warning signs were part of his Safer Suburban Streets program and could be rolled out in school zones, pedestrian blackspots, dangerous intersections and busy neighbourhood roads where speeding was a problem.

“Making Brisbane’s streets safer for pedestrians, motorists and cyclists alike is high on my agenda as Lord Mayor,” Cr Quirk said.
